ELLSWORTH – Sarah Francis Gifford, 77, died March 8, 2013, at an Ellsworth hospital. She was born Sept. 11, 1935, in Ellsworth, the daughter of Walter Alonzo and Roxanne Cleaves (Jones) Sanborn, Sr.
She is survived by son, Carroll Jr. and partner, Amy, of Warren; daughter, Sonya Mitchell and husband, Ken, of Trenton; grandchildren, Steven, Brianna, Zachary and Joel Gifford, Jarod and Justin Mitchell, Courtney Moon and Aiden Mitchell; many nieces and nephews; and special niece, Becky Sanborn. She was predeceased by her husband, Carroll F. Gifford Sr., in 1990; and brothers, Walter, Paul, Charlie, John and Clarence Sanborn.
Calling hours will be held 5:30-7 p.m. Monday, March 11, at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth, where a funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 12, with Pastor Bob Maddocks officiating.
