WASHINGTON, Maine — Fire departments from Windsor, Brownfield and Carmel will receive federal grant awards, Maine Sens. Susan Collins and Angus King announced Friday.

Winsdor Fire and Rescue will receive $89,296; Brownfield $62,700 and Carmel $71,500.

Windsor and Brownfield earned their grants through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program, which will provide for training, equipment, wellness, fitness and facility modifications.

Carmel is receiving a Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response grant, which can be used for the recruitment, hiring or retention of firefighters.
