BREWER – Charles Arthur Provost, 84, husband of Alice (King) Provost, died March 14, 2013, at a Bangor hospital after a lengthy illness, surrounded by his family. He was born May 28, 1928, in Lawrence, Mass., the son of Philip and Delvina (Clukey) Provost.
Arthur, as he was known, attended John Bapst High School and served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked for Shell Oil Co. for many years and later worked with his father-in-law as an insurance agent for King Insurance. He later established his own agency before retiring in 1992. Arthur was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting, fishing and boating with his friends, as well as camping and snowmobiling. He loved spending time with his family. Arthur was a member of St. Teresa’s Catholic Church, Brewer.
Surviving in addition to his wife of Brewer are three children, Stephen Provost of Brewer, Julie King and her husband, Danny, of Orrington and Kimberly Provost of Brewer; five grandchildren, Morgan Owens and her husband, Damon, of Orrington, Matthew King of Bangor, Michelle Stinsman and her husband, John, Mikaela and Michael King, all of Orrington; one sister, Eleanor Riley of Bangor; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, three brothers; and a daughter-in-law, Laurie Piper-Provost, March 3, 2013.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Teresa’s Catholic Church, South Main Street, Brewer. Burial will be at a later date.
