BANGOR, Maine — More than 1,000 customers in northern Penobscot County were without power Wednesday afternoon after a tree fell onto power lines in Enfield, according to Bangor Hydro Electric Co.

Bangor Hydro Spokesman Bob Potts said a logger clearing trees accidentally felled one onto power lines at approximately 12:20 p.m., putting approximately 1,043 customers in the dark.

The towns affected included Enfield, West Enfield, Burlington and Lowell.

As of 2:45 p.m. Wednesday, power had been restored to the affected areas.
