CARRABASSETT VALLEY, Maine — A skiing accident at Sugarloaf has sent a 16-year-old girl to the hospital with a head injury.
According to an Associated Press story, Sugarloaf spokesman Ethan Austin confirmed the girl suffered a head injury after striking a tree on the Candyside trail between 10 and 10:30 a.m. Sunday.
According to Austin, the girl was responsive and wearing a helmet when ski patrol personnel arrived.
She was taken down the slope on a sled before being taken by helicopter to a hospital.
Authorities connected with the case in Carrabassett Valley could not be reached Sunday evening, and the location and current condition of the girl remains unknown.
