MILLINOCKET – Shannon Rae Jewers, 45, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2013, with her mom and sisters at her side. She was born May 23, 1967, in Aberdeen, Wash., the daughter of Myra and the late Kenneth Jewers.
Words will not capture the person and life of this incredible young woman. Her flame went out way too soon, but her spark will live on forever in the lives of the people she touched. Very early on in her precious life, Shannon defied the odds with her will, showing doctors just how strong the human spirit can be. With the loving care and support of her family, especially her incredible mother, she overcame the many obstacles she faced and did so with a smile. Shannon had a zest for life and lit up any room she entered with her glowing personality and big brown eyes. Shannon had a way of touching people and many of us are better people as a result of her influence and unconditional love. She enjoyed making things, putting puzzles together, word searches and most of all, playing cards. She loved shopping and anything that was bright and sparkly, just like her. Shannon loved her family and spending time with them.
She is survived by her loving and devoted mother; three sisters, Michelle, Mary and Sandra; brother-in-law and “boyfriend,” Damian; and four nephews and niece, Garrett and Taylor Trask and Caden, Carter and Carson Dow. Along with her family, Shannon was cared for by Cheryl Powers whose love and dedication empowered Shannon. The family would like to say a special thank you to Cheryl for her support through the years. The family would also like to thank the incredible staff at Millinocket Regional Hospital and the many doctors who cared for her.
There will be no formal ceremony. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to contribute in her memory may make donations to Katahdin Area Support Group, 10 Field St., Millinocket, ME 04462. Online condolences and tributes may be expressed to the family at www.lamsonfh.com.
