MACHIASPORT – Betty Florence Wood, 79, went to be with the Lord after a long illness March 22, 2013, at a Bangor hospital. She was born June 18, 1933, in Bucks Harbor, the daughter of Norman and Cora (Proctor) Quimby.
She enjoyed, birds, gardening, yard sales, going out on the lobster boat, banding lobsters and her annual summer trip to Old Town.
She was predeceased by her father; husband, Stephen; brother, Faunce; and sister-in-law, Myrlene. She is loved and survived by her mother, Cora; son, Norman and wife, Zita; six daughters, Karen Mahar and husband, Buddy, Lois Decatur and partner, John Elsmore, Clarice Colbeth and husband, Warren, Stacy Smith and husband, Peter, Patsy Gagne and partner, Richard and Wanda Wood; brother, Danny Quimby and wife, Jeanie; special brother-in-law, John Wood and wife, Carol; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, April 13, at Larabee Baptist Church, Machiasport, with Pastor Bill Holmes officiating. Burial will follow in Larrabee Cemetery. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family by visiting their Book of Memories at www.mcclurefamilyfuneral.com.
