CARIBOU – Bernice St. Peter, 88, wife of the late Aurele St. Peter, died April 21, 2013, in Caribou. She was born May 1, 1924, in Caribou, the daughter of the late Joseph and Laura (Ouellette) Caron.
Mrs. St. Peter was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she was a member of Ladies of St. Anne. Bernice was a homemaker for many years until the death of her husband, Aurele in 1973, where she then sought employment at Caribou Nursing Home. Bernice was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother to her family. She loved to crochet afghans for her family and friends. Many will remember her for her fine cooking skills, the many delicious meals she prepared and how much she loved to cook for everyone, whether it was just for a few individuals or for many large family gatherings.
She is survived by her children, Norma LaMothe and husband, Claude, of Caribou, Patrick St. Peter and wife, Jean Marie, of Limestone, Richard St. Peter and wife, Eleanor, Linda Ala and husband, John, Judy Gengler and husband, Lyle, and Lori Theriault and husband, Roddy, all of Caribou. 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and recently, her first great-great-grandson. Bernice also had the love of many brothers and sisters as well as many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, at Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St., Caribou. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 24, at Parish of the Precious Blood, Sacred Heart Catholic Church. After the service all are invited to a time of continued fellowship and refreshments at the parish hall. Interment will be in the spring at Sacred Heart Cemetery. www.mocklerfuneralhome.com.
