ALBION – Harold Charles Littlefield, 94, passed away peacefully at a skilled nursing facility in Belfast, Saturday, April 27, 2013. Harold was born Sept. 3, 1918, in Albion, to the late Fred Claire Littlefield and Louise (Wentworth) Littlefield.
Harold graduated from Besse High School in 1937. Oct. 24, 1939, he married Erma (Small) Littlefield and they shared 66 years of marriage before Erma passed away March 5, 2006. Harold grew up in the Littlefield farm house on the Hussey Road in Albion. He successfully operated a Jersey dairy cow farm from this location until he was 70 years old. At 70, he and Erma designed their “retirement” home just two doors down from his family farm and up until about a year ago this was Harold’s home.
Harold was predeceased by his wife, Erma (Small) Littlefield; sister, Mildred Littlefield; and brother, George Littlefield. He is survived by daughter, Jean (Littlefield) Shorey and husband, Bill, of Searsport; son, Dwight Littlefield, and wife, Cheryl, of Bingham; granddaughter, Wendy (Shorey) Flannery and husband, Brad, of Hampden; grandson, Craig Shorey and wife, Kristen, of Hermon; granddaughter, Christie (Littlefield) Hunt and husband, Dave, of Monmouth; grandson, Dustin Littlefield and wife, Kristin, of Yarmouth; and he was blessed with 11 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 1, at Number 4 Cemetery, Unity Road, Albion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Harold’s memory to Besse High School Alumni Association, P.O. Box 25, Albion, ME 04910.
