SORRENTO – Frank “Buddy” Stover Trundy Jr. has gone fishing. He passed April 27, 2013, at Mount Desert Island Hospital, Bar Harbor. He was born Sept. 9, 1942, in Bar Harbor, the son of Arleitte and Frank Trundy Sr.
Buddy spent his life in Sorrento, most of it on the water. He began lobster fishing in 1954. His boats the Sally Greg and Miss Lisa have been familiar sights in the Sorrento Harbors. He owned Trundy’s Boat Yard which he sold in 1972. When he was not on the water he was serving as the road commissioner for the town of Sorrento, he plowed the roads for 34 years until 2007 when he retired. He enjoyed traveling and visiting Chester Pikes. His antics, funny stories and rock solid advice will be missed by all.
He is survived by two sons, Greg Trundy of Hancock and George Hammond Jr. of Prospect Harbor; four daughters, Debra Young and husband, Leonard, of Corea, Wendy Hammond of Franklin, Sally Taylor of Machiasport and Lisa Trundy of South Portland; brother, Ronald Trundy of Hancock; son-in-law, Stanley McDevitt of Franklin; 17 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his special friends at Chester Pikes. He will be missed by his lifelong friends Victor Levesque and Robert Johnson. He is predeceased by his parents; wife of 36 years, Nancy Trundy; and daughter, Sherri McDevitt.
Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, May 4, at Doanes Point Cemetery, Sorrento.
