WATERVILLE, Maine — A man is facing a felony theft charge after concealing two items from a Dollar Tree store in a backpack on Sunday, according to police.
Floyd Patrick, 33, who lists his address as the Riverside Motel in Auburn, faces up to five years in prison on the Class C felony charge, Waterville Deputy Chief Charles Rumsey said.
Employees at the Dollar Tree had called police to report Patrick and a 17-year-old girl had been stealing merchandise around 5:45 p.m.
Police met with store employees, and officers were notified that Patrick and the teenager had taken a pack of batteries and an SD card off a shelf and put it into Patrick’s backpack, Rumsey said.
Due to the fact Patrick has two prior convictions, he was arrested and charged with Class C felony theft, Rumsey said. No information on the prior convictions was available, the deputy chief said.
The teenager was summoned for theft and released. Patrick was taken to Kennebec County Jail and later released on bail.
