PORTLAND, Maine — In the wake of two 12-year-old boys accused of setting fires in Lewiston, the Portland Fire Department is reminding the public of services available through the Cumberland County Fire Chief’s Association’s Juvenile Fire Safety Program.

Parents or guardians concerned their child may be engaging in risky behavior with fire can contact the Portland Fire Department at 874-8400 and schedule an appointment with a trained firefighter, City Spokeswoman Nicole Clegg said.

Residents outside of Portland wishing to participate in the program should call the State Fire Marshal’s Office at 626-3870 to be referred to agencies in their area.
