BANGOR, Maine — A 31-year-old Bangor man was charged with assault early Thursday morning after an argument at a strip club got out of control, according to police.

Joshua Pinto and a 39-year-old man had an apparent verbal exchange inside Diamond’s on Harlow Street, according to Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards.

When the argument spilled outside it grew physical, ending with the 39-year-old man being kicked in the face, Edwards said.

Upon arriving at the scene shortly after 1 a.m., Bangor police Officer Kevin Haefele encountered numerous people around the man on the ground but no fighting occurring, Edwards said.

One witness pointed out Pinto, and he was issued a summons for assault, a Class D misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in jail, and released.
