BANGOR – Alfred Joseph Veilleux joined God’s angels on Memorial Day, May 27, 2013. He was born Nov. 13, 1928. Alfred was the loving husband of Carolyn Rose (McPherson) Veilleux, his wife of 61 years.
Alfred graduated from John Bapst High school in 1948, attending the University of Maine upon graduation. He served his country as a member of our nation’s military during the Korean War, being activated into the Air Forces’s 101st. He would attend the Fort Sam Houston Medical School, graduating as a dental lab tech. Al worked for many years in the paper industry after leaving the military. Alfred eventually retired from the U.S. Postal Service after a nearly 30 year career. Alfred was a member of the Knights of Columbus and president of John Bapst Quarterback Club. In school, Alfred was known as the Frank Sinatra of Bapst. He enjoyed singing in the choir of St. John’s Church, continuing a lifelong love of music. Alfred had a very inquisitive mind spending long hours discovering history, and studying the world around him through reading and his love of computers. He especially loved children and could play and interact with them to their delight, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Alfred had the ability to learn from nature and was especially proud of his Native American ancestry. This connection gave him the ability find joy in nature’s creatures and feel the connections between all living things. It also gave him the ability to understand life on a deeper level. Alfred had a very deep spiritual faith and his faith sustained him during the challenges of life and brought him peace in his final days and hours on earth.
