WINTERPORT – Imogene A. Norton, 73, passed away peacefully June 3, 2013, at a Bangor hospital. Imogene was born Sept. 6, 1939, in Jonesboro, daughter of Willard and Edwina (Cox) Norton.
Imogene was a caregiver her entire life. Tending on gardens, her lawn, and animals, but most of all enjoyed taking care of her family. She worked for many years as a certified nurse’s aid. Imogene was an avid NASCAR fan and loved to watch the races. She had spent the last year and a half studying to become a Jehovah’s Witness and loved Jehovah God. Imogene will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend.
Imogene is survived by two daughters, Cherryl Warren and Diane Baker; two sons, Leonard Norton Jr. and James Norton; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Arlene Alexander; as well as several nieces and nephews. Imogene was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Leonard G. Norton Sr.; grandson, Shane Norton; and brother, Darryl Norton.
A funeral service celebrating Imogene’s life will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, June 16, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 51 North Searsport Road, Frankfort. Memorial contributions in Imogene’s honor may be made to Ronald McDonald House of Bangor, 654 State St., Bangor, ME 04401. Cremation arrangements entrusted to Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden.
