BANGOR, Maine — Police are asking for the public’s assistance to help a woman find a missing piece of jewelry.

The woman was shopping in the Bangor Mall area on Friday and Saturday when she lost an engagement ring that once belonged to her mother, according to Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards.

The ring was being carried in a small plastic bag. The ring’s owner had shopped at Walmart, the Goodwill, Gifford’s Ice Cream and Danforth’s Supermarket on Route 2 over the weekend, the sergeant said.

The woman told police the ring has great sentimental value.

Anyone who has seen it or may have found it should call Bangor police at 947-7382.
