MILLINOCKET – William Francis Shorey, 85, husband of Jennie Shorey, died June 9, 2013, at a local hospital. He was born Feb. 28, 1928, in Livermore Falls, son of Forest and Sarah (Murphy) Shorey.
After Bill graduated from high school he joined the U.S. Marines, an accomplishment he was most proud of. When he completed his service he went to work for Great Northern Paper Co., completing his career working in mill security. After Bill retired, he and Jennie traveled. They would travel to Florida for the winters and back to their camp at Cedar Lake for the summers. He loved to golf and to use his computer. In fact, he was the only resident at the nursing home with his own computer.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Jennie and children, Rodney and his family, Stephen and his family, Debbie and her family, John and his family, and Kim and her family; children from his first marriage, Bruce, Linda, Mike, Karen, Jeffery and Judith; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and brother, Raymond. He leaves behind two special friends, Mike Jewers and Roland Pomerleau. The family extends a special thank you to the nurses and staff at Millinocket Regional Hospital and Katahdin Health Care for the dedicated and loving care given to Bill and his family.
At Bill’s request, services will be private. Messages of condolence may be expressed at www.lamsonfh.com.
