VEAZIE – VEAZIE-Michael E. Casey died June 14, 2013, at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 7, 1940, in Orono, the son of James Francis and Rose Marie(Darling) Casey.
Michael graduated from Calais High School, Class of 1958. He went on to graduate from the University of Maine in Orono in 1963 with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Education. He married Linda Robertson Troy on June 25, 1966. He then received a degree of Master of Education at UMO, in 1968. He worked as a teacher at Fifth Street School in Bangor and then at Woodland High School in Baileyville. He joined the Immigration Service in Calais in 1972 and retired from there in 2006. He served three of those years in Honolulu, Hawaii. He was an avid golfer and sports fan. He adored all of his grandchildren and loved spending time with them. In retirement, he enjoyed driving for Hertz Rental Car.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by three brothers, Frederick, Leo, and John, a sister, Theresa Kenney and nephew Arthur Savoy III. Surviving in addition to his wife, Linda (Troy) Casey, are daughters, Erin Casey-Dery and her fiance, Daniel Clark, of Hampden, Rebecca Sequin and her husband, Brian, of Scarborough;son, Sean Casey and his wife, Laura (Fitzgerald) Casey of North Waterboro;grandchildren, Michael (Max) Casey, Noah Dery, Benjamin and Jacob Clark, Halleen and Benjamin Sequin, and Broghan and Finnegan Casey;sisters, Barbara Savoy and her husband, Arthur, of Augusta, Norma Hill and her husband, Phil, of Houlton, Margaret Feaster of Texas, Mary Casey and her husband, David Davis, of Alexander, and Francis Holst and her husband, Roger, of Alexander; many nieces and nephews.
A Service of Remembrance will be held 1 p.m., Friday, June 21, 2013, at The Immaculate Conception Parish, 31 Calais Avenue, Calais, Maine. A reception onsite and a burial at the Calais Cemetery will follow.
