CAPE ROSIER – Arnold Forrest Bridges, 84, passed away June 29, 2013, at his home. Arnold was born Nov. 5, 1928, in South Penobscot, the fourth of five children to Fred and Annie (Herrick) Bridges.
He attended school in Penobscot and graduated from Clark High School in 1946. Arnold served in the U.S. Army in California, Europe and Iceland in the early 1950s. He often shared stories of his experiences while he was enlisted. He met his future wife, Priscilla Louise (Tillie) Gray during those years and they married in 1953 in Blue Hill. His career was spent as a master carpenter. He renovated and built many beautiful homes in the local area. He worked as a supervisor at the Callahan Mine, Harborside, and the Black Hawk Mine, Blue Hill. He loved to spend time with his family and friends. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed watching sports, working in his gardens, digging clams and picking blueberries for his family and neighbors.
He is survived by his loving and devoted partner, Donna Gray; three sons, Ron and partner, Larry Howe, of South Portland, Randy and partner, Diane Dunham, of Charleston, and Harold and Karen Bridges of Amherst; six grandchildren, Arielle Bridges, Khalan Bridges, Evan Bridges, Christopher Bridges, Murray Bridges and Alee and Justin Winslow; sister, Althea (Arnold) Hooper; and many nieces and nephews. Arnold was predeceased by his wife; his parents; sister, Arlene (Albert) Gross; and brothers, Merton Bridges and Harvard Bridges.
