AUBURN – Leonard V. Young, 66, passed away June 30, 2013, at Hospice House, Auburn. He was born Dec. 22, 1946, to the late Maynard and Adelia Young of Gouldsboro.
At the age four, he was diagnosed with Polio. After graduating from Gouldsboro Grammar School, he attended Pineland Center in New Gloucester. He became very self-sufficient and did not let his disease hold him back. In July 1972 he married Sandra Gagnon. He enjoyed watching wrestling, doing puzzle books and old country music. He had a great sense of humor, beautiful smile and many friends.
Besides his wife of 41 years, he is survived by six brothers, Earl and Cheryl Young, Warren and Melissa Young, both of Gouldsboro, Carl and Jeannine Young of Bangor, Lawrence and Pat Young of Hancock, Morris and Joyce Young of Ellsworth, and Jeff Young of Trenton; two sisters, Loretta Ray of Winter Harbor and Wanda and Charles Theobald of Winslow; brother-in-law, Joseph Grover of South Gouldsboro; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and aunts. He was predeceased by sister, Marie Grover; and brothers, Larry and Gilbert Young.
A service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, July 7, at Gracelawn, 980 Turner St., Auburn.
