FORT KENT – Emile J. Belanger, 77, died peacefully, July 2, 2013, at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Massachusetts. He was born Dec. 14, 1935, in Fort Kent, son of Edmond and Juliette (Bernier) Belanger.
He was a member of Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus Council No. 0352, Fort Kent. Emile enjoyed fishing and gardening and doing carpentry, especially for his family. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Joan (Bouchard) Belanger of Fort Kent; six daughters, Judy and husband, Jerry Lavoie, of Frenchville, Jenny and husband, David Madore, of Fort Kent, Joyce Belanger and fiancé, Joe Tardif, of Frenchville, Jane and husband, Philip Dubois, of Wallagrass, Jacqueline and husband, George Dubois, of Fort Kent, Janet and husband, Karl Lavoie, of Frenchville; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three brothers, Adrien Belanger of Fort Kent, Roger and Edmond Jr. Belanger both of Biddeford; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by daughter, Janice Belanger, in 1996; grandson, Jacob Theriault; two brothers; and three sisters.
Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Sunday, and 9-10:30 a.m. Monday, at Daigle Funeral Home, Fort Kent. A Mass of Christian burial with full Fourth Degree Honors will be celebrated 11 a.m. July 8, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Soldier Pond. Committal services will be afterward at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
