BATH, Maine — A 23-year-old Bath man suffered abrasions and cuts after his bicycle smashed into a stopped car Sunday on Centre Street.
Anthony Newall was treated at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick after the incident, which occurred at approximately 9:44 p.m., just after fireworks at the Bath Heritage Days celebration ended, Bath police Lt. Robert Savary said.
Newall reportedly was traveling at a high rate of speed down the Centre Street hill when he crashed into a 2007 Toyota pickup truck stopped in traffic at the intersection of Centre and Middle streets.
Newall’s bicycle “flipped over the car,” which was driven by 49-year-old Thomas Turmennee of Brunswick, Savary said.
