OLD TOWN, Maine — The City Council will conduct an emergency meeting at 10 a.m. Friday for the purpose of authorizing a new air conditioning unit for the Old Town Public Library.
The library’s air conditioner conked out earlier this week, City Manager William Mayo said Thursday night. The estimated cost for a new one is $45,000.
Mayo said that given the stretch of hot, humid weather the region is experiencing, councilors decided during a committee meeting Thursday evening to hold Friday’s emergency meeting rather than delay action.
The meeting will take place in the council chambers at City Hall, Mayo said.
