SEBEC – William Downs Jr., husband of Cora (Stull) Downs, passed away July 13, 2013, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Sept. 26, 1927, in Dover-Foxcroft, the son of William Sr. and Bertha (Nelson) Downs.
Bill had served his country with the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked for many years as a driver’s license examiner for the State of Maine. He was a long-time member of Sebec Volunteer Fire Department, a past member of Piscataquis Valley Grange, and a life-time member of the NRA.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Cora of Sebec; a son, William Downs III and his wife, Mary, of Sebec; a granddaughter, Katherine A. Durrell of Portland; and a sister, Shirley Holbrook of New Vineyard.
Friends and family are invited to call from 10 a.m. until time of memorial service at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 18, at Sebec Corner Baptist Church, with Pastor Isaiah Hill officiating.
