JONESPORT and MILBRIDGE – Sarah C. Schevenieus, 83, wife of the late Ambrose S. Schevenieus, died Sunday, July 14, 2013, at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital, Ellsworth, with her loving family by her side. She was born March 29, 1930, in Jonesport, daughter of Orin C. and Phoebe E. (Beal) Chandler.
She is survived by two daughters, Leta R. (Schevenieus) Smith and husband, Craig, of Cherryfield and Eunilah C. (Schevenieus) Libby and husband, Norman Sr., of Jonesport; grandchildren, Melissa Backman of Franklin, Melinda Young and husband, Chief Warrant 4 Michael Young, of Prospect Hill, N.C., Tara Crowley and husband, William Crowley, of Jonesport, Mark Smith and fiancée, Jessica Tenan, of Cherryfield, and Norman Libby Jr. and wife, Heather, of Jonesport; three stepgranddaughters, Lisa Clooney of Fort Myers Beach, Fla., Melissa Parent of Florida and Kimberly Southerland and husband, Pete, of Raymond; 20 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; brother, Leo Chandler and wife, Vivian; sister, Elva Robinson and husband, Vernon Sr.; brother-in-law, Dale Schevenieus and wife, Marilyn; and sister-in-law, Norma Korenek. Sarah was predeceased by brothers, George, Clifford, Harold, Oscar and Roger; and sisters, Edith Prescott, Verlene Davis and Ora Cirone. The family wishes to thank the staff of Narraguagus Bay Health Care Facility, Milbridge, and Maine Coast Memorial Hospital, Ellsworth, for their loving care of their dear mother.
Viewing will be held 5-7 p.m, Thursday, July 18, at United Pentecostal Church, Jonesport, where funeral services will be held noon Friday, July 19, with the Rev. Bertrand, Rev. Mark Chandler, co-officiating along with Matthew Beal. Interment will be afterward at Greenwood Cemetery, Mason’s Bay Road, Jonesport.
