OAKLAND, Maine — A teenage boy is facing a charge after he allegedly dumped bleach in a family fishbowl during a disturbance, police said.

Oakland police Capt. Rick Stubbert said police were called to a High Street residence around 4:30 p.m. Friday.

When officers arrived, they found that the 16-year-old boy had dumped bleach into a fishbowl during an argument with his mother, killing all the fish in the tank, according to Stubbert. It was unclear how many fish were inside the bowl.

The boy was charged with animal cruelty, a Class D misdemeanor, the police captain said.
