HAMPDEN and NORFOLK, Va. – Randall “Randy” R. Ellingwood, 57, passed away June 23, 2013, at a Virginia hospital. Randy was born July 3, 1955, in Bangor, to Roger L. and Myrtle E. (Young) Ellingwood.
Randy was a 1974 graduate of Hampden Academy. He then earned his associates degree in institutional cooking from Eastern Maine Vocational Technical Institute, which led him to Florida where he was a chef at Ocean Reef Club, Key Largo, Fla. After moving back to Maine and working construction he moved to Virginia where he lived until his unexpected death. In Virginia, Randy worked as a self-employed carpenter. Randy will be remembered as a loving brother, uncle and friend.
Randy is survived by his two brothers, Gary and Thomas Ellingwood, both of Hampden; special nephew, Tyler Ellingwood; and special niece, Amanda Meek and husband Adam; uncles, Ivan Young of Ellsworth and Arthur Young of Newburgh; aunts, Kathleen Reynolds of Hampden, Beverly Smith of Columbus, Ohio, Bethany Carlson of Fort Worth, Texas and Marjorie Ellingwood of Winterport; and several great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. Randy was predeceased by his parents, Roger and Myrtle.
Family and friends are invited to visit 5-7 p.m. Friday, July 19, at Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, July 22, at Lakeview Cemetery, Hampden. Memorial contributions in Randy’s honor may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
