MILLINOCKET – Robert A. Raymond, 80, died Friday, July 19, 2013, at a Bangor health care facility. He was born Aug. 22, 1932, in Millinocket, son of Peter and Flora (York) Raymond.
Bob was a yard worker at Great Northern Paper Company from the age of 16 until his retirement, with 35 years experience. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. After a fire at home caused his family to lose everything, Bob was given a “hardship discharge,” so he could return home and help his family recover. He was a friend of Bill W., for 47 years, and assisted many fellow friends throughout the years. Bob spoke to many groups, helping them “achieve sanity.” He was a faithful communicant of St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, Millinocket, for many years.
Bob is survived by son, Robert Raymond of Millinocket; daughter, Renee Ciarrochi and husband, Peter, of East Millinocket; sister, Anita Powers and husband, Wayne, of East Millinocket; and several grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Bob will also be missed by special friends, Anthony and Sheryl Capone. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his former wives, Shirley (Friel) Raymond, and Ruth Ann (Brown) Raymond; four sisters, Pearl Moscone, Janet Perrow, Doris Rood and Evelyn Brown; and brother, Peter Edward Raymond.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 23, at Christ the Divine Mercy Parish at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, 19 Colby St., Millinocket, with the Rev. Joel Cyr, pastor, presider. Interment will be at Millinocket Cemetery.
