MEDWAY – Gene H. Smith, 50, passed away unexpectedly, July 19, 2013, at a Millinocket hospital. He was born Dec. 5, 1962, in Millinocket, son of Eugene H. and Beverly J. (Merritt) Smith.
Gene was a carpenter and worked construction for 28 years. He loved riding snowsled, ATV and dirt bike.
He is survived by his companion of 28 years, Marleen Austin; two girls, Darci Austin and Amanda Austin; his grandchildren that he adored, Ethan, Breena and unborn granddaughter, Jasmynn; brothers, Sam and Connie, Scott, and Sterling and Lynne; several nieces and nephews; and his best friend, Ted Fiske. He also loved his two dogs, D.O.G. and Drago. He was predeceased by his parents.
Interment will be at Grindstone Road Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Katahdin Area Support Group, P.O. Box 374, Millinocket, ME 04462.
