AUGUSTA, Maine — Bangor and Windham earned berths to the state American Legion baseball tourney with play-in victories Saturday.

Bangor shut out Moody’s Collision of Gorham 10-0 in eight innings and Windham beat Madison 12-4.

Curtis Worcester sparked Bangor as he allowed only four hits while Sam Houston provided an offensive spark for the Comrades with a three-run double in the fifth inning that upped their lead to 8-0. Bangor then added a run in the sixth and another in the eighth to record the mercy-rule victory.

Bangor improved to 23-3 and Moody’s finished at 17-3.

Windham (16-6) used a 16-hit attack to beat Madison (14-9).

The state tourney opens with four games on Wednesday: the Red Barn (Augusta) vs. Pastime (Lewiston), 10 a.m.; Fayette Staples (Saco) vs. Bangor, 11 a.m.; Westbrook vs. Windham, 2 p.m. and Brewer vs. Staples Crossing (Marshwood), 4 p.m.
