BANGOR, Maine — Bangor radio station 92.9 The Ticket is expanding its coverage of Husson University with a weekly coaches show to be aired during its daily morning sports talk show from 6 to 8 a.m. with Dale Duff and Clem LaBree. It will be a one-year deal.

The all-sports station is part of Townsquare Media, which has four other stations in its network.

The Ticket also will broadcast a dozen live Husson games and Dale Duff, The Ticket’s brand manager, said it intends to do at least two football games and six to eight basketball games. The station also will do select baseball and softball games.

The weekly coaches show segment will supply an inside look at Husson athletics and the players while also recapping recent games and advancing upcoming contests.

“We’re happy with the arrangement,” said Duff. “Husson has a lot of good programs and they have a lot of players who are from our local area. They deserve coverage. It fits.”

He said it also continues the station’s quest to further localize its broadcast package.

Duff said he isn’t concerned with the ratings.

“That never factored into it,” said Duff. “Most of the stuff we’ll do with Husson doesn’t really fall in the ratings times, which is between football and basketball season.

“I know when we do Husson games, we get a lot of [positive] response,” he added.

“This partnership will further increase Husson University’s athletics programs’ exposure,” Husson interim athletic director Warren Caruso said in a news release. “We are excited by the direction in which 92.9 The Ticket is heading and that we are part of their programming.”

The deal coincides with Husson’s recent two-year deal with WVII ABC7/WFVX Fox 22 to televise some Husson games.

Husson also will supply its own live coverage of Husson sports through game-day broadcasts on its Stretch Gamecast website and at WHSN-FM 89.3.

The Ticket has a busy month of August.

The station is airing select American Legion state tourney games from Augusta and will broadcast the Senior League World Series from Mansfield Stadium in Bangor beginning on Aug. 11.

Before the World Series, Duff said the station will carry the District 3 championship game, which will determine which local team will represent the local district in the Senior League World Series.

Duff said The Ticket will carry two games a day during the Senior League World Series including all of the District 3 winner’s games.

The Ticket also will carry New England Patriots and Boston Bruins games this season and, through its affiliation with ESPN radio, would have the opportunity to carry Boston Red Sox playoff games if the Red Sox make the playoffs.

The Patriots had been carried on WWMJ-FM 95.7, another Townsquare Media station, but they will switch over to 92.9 The Ticket this season.
