WATERBORO, Maine — A young man is facing charges after allegedly causing damage at Massabesic Middle School recently, police said.

Robert Watson, 18, of Shapleigh and another juvenile were summoned for criminal mischief after an anonymous source directed Deputy Shawn Sanborn to Watson and two other possible suspects.

School officials reported damage to the property occurred over the weekend of July 20-21, Chief Deputy William King of the York County Sheriff’s Office said.

School staff said that two fully matured trees had been snapped in half and a middle school window had been broken, according to King.

The trees cost $500 each and the price of repairing the window would cost $1,000, the chief deputy noted.

The investigation remains open.
