GREENVILLE – Hartley D. Sawyer, 75, passed away Aug. 4, 2013, at his home, after a long battle with illness. He was born June 3, 1938, and grew up in Hartland, graduating from Hartland Academy in 1956.
Hartley was a long-time resident of Greenville. For many years, he worked as a skilled heavy equipment operator. He loved the outdoors and spending time with family. Hartley was a proud, industrious man, capable of doing anything he put his mind to.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Alice; son, Steven Sawyer and his wife, Kathleen; daughter, Trudy O’Neil and her husband, Bill; daughter, Holli Boccelli and her husband, Adam; and grandchildren, Nicole, Eric, Toni, Taylor, Lucas, Dylan and Delaney. Hartley was predeceased by his parents, Herbert and Ola Sawyer; and identical twin brother, Harvey. His loving sister, Geraldine DAmico passed away just one day after Hartley, forever continuing to watch over her little brother.
An informal day of remembrance will be held on Saturday, August 10, at Hartley and Alice’s home, 127 Mayhew Manor, Greenville. Friends and family are welcome to stop by anytime between 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and share their memories of this one of a kind man.
