SKOWHEGAN, Maine — Skowhegan Savings Bank on Monday announced it had won a national award for its work helping students to graduate high school and find jobs.
Job’s For America’s Graduates, a national nonprofit organization, presented the “Corporate Above and Beyond” award to Skowhegan Savings Bank at a July 25 event in Augusta, where the bank was celebrating the grand opening of its new branch, according to a news release.
The award is given annually to one business in the country in recognition of its support of the nonprofit organization and its local affiliates — in this case, Jobs For Maine’s Graduates.
“Skowhegan Savings Bank gets deeply involved,” said Craig Larrabee, president and CEO of Jobs For Maine’s Graduates, in a statement. “They care about the interests and the needs of our students in the state of Maine. They’re freeing up their people’s time to come into the classroom. They are a true community partner.”
The bank was integral in the launch of the first financial literacy fair in Somerset County and is a sponsor of Jobs For Maine’s Graduates’ financial literacy programs, which help local high school students learn financial skills they’ll need as adults, the release states.
