CARTHAGE, Maine — A teenage boy was killed Sunday evening while riding a dirt bike, according to officials.
The victim, whose name was not released, was carrying a coil of rope while riding the dirt bike when the rope became tangled in the rear wheel, said Cpl. John MacDonald of the Maine Warden Service.
The boy then became tangled in the rope as well, MacDonald said.
The boy was staying with friends at the time of the incident.
The boy was pronounced dead at the scene, MacDonald said, and his body was taken to a Rumford funeral home for examination by the medical examiner’s office.
The case remains under investigation.
