BELFAST – Our family is heartbroken with the passing of Mina Roberts Barry on Aug. 9, 2013. She was born in Searsport, to the late Margaret Davis Colcord and William J. Roberts. She was predeceased by her ex-husband, John Barry; and her sister, Rita Collins. She leaves behind daughter and son-in-law, Karen Paul and Raymond Paul Jr. and grandson, Stephen Paul of Belfast; son and daughter-in-law, Stephen Barry and Michelle Barry and grandson, Kyle Barry of Hampden; sister, Wilma Berry of Swanville; brother and sister in law, John Roberts and Ethlyn Roberts of Appleton; sister, Rhonda Colcord of Sun City, FL; sister, Rhoda Sutfin of Swanville; and many nieces and nephews.
Mina’s life revolved around her family. She loved her vacations with the grandkids, holiday gatherings and various family celebrations. She always looked forward to outings with the cousins and her numerous trips to the slots with her sisters. Weekend sleepovers with Rhonda and Rhoda were also a favorite. Hands down the love and light of NoNo’s life were her two grandsons, Stephen and Kyle; they could do no wrong, and she wasn’t afraid to let you know it.
After living in Searsport her whole life, Mina spent the past 17 years living in Bangor where she worked part time with her daughter at Maine Development Associates and made many new friends. The last five months were spent in Belfast where she was able to reconnect with numerous old friends and share long visits with loved ones. We would like to say a special thank you to all of the people who brightened her days with their visits and provided her with rides to her many doctor’s appointments.
Per Mina’s wishes there will be a private graveside ceremony held 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cancer Care of Maine. Arrangements are under the care of Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast.
