BRUNSWICK, Maine — A Brunswick woman required surgery for an open leg fracture after she was hit by a box truck while bicycling late Tuesday morning.
Diana Smith, 54, was riding south on Stanwood Street near Hennessey Avenue when the truck struck her and knocked her off the bike just before 11 a.m., according to Brunswick police Officer Patrick Mahar.
The white box truck did not stop after the hit, and there were no witnesses to the incident.
Police continued on Wednesday to search for the driver.
Smith was not wearing a helmet at the time and was riding on the wrong side of the road.
She was listed in good condition at Mid Coast Hospital on Wednesday afternoon.
