BANGOR and SOUTH BERWICK – Pauline T. England, 94, passed away peacefully Aug. 25, 2013, at her home in Bangor. Pauline was born Oct. 23, 1918, in Sanford, the daughter of Charles W. and Winfred R. (May) Tebbetts.
Pauline lived in South Berwick for the majority of her life. During World War II she worked as a pipe fitter apprentice fitting pipes between the hulls of the submarines. She was a Girl Scout Leader and coordinator for York and Kennebec County Girl Scouts as well as the past president of the Women’s Relief Corp. Pauline was a faithful communicant of St. Michael’s Church in South Berwick.
Pauline is survived by her daughter, Joan M. England of Bangor; a sister-in-law, Nancy Tebbetts of Wells; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Pauline was predeceased by her husband, Raymond A. England; brothers, Robert, Theodore and Paul Tebbetts; sisters, Emma Wainwright, Eileen Johnson, Helen Lavoie, Alice Williams, Ruth Durgin and Nellie Emery; as well as a brother-in-law, Frank Wainwright.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, at the Ascension of the Lord Parish, Our Lady of the Angels Church, 162 Agamenticus Road, South Berwick. Interment will be immediately after at New Town Cemetery, Rollinsford, N.H. Arrangements entrusted to Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden.
