Volunteering training
BANGOR — Hospice of Eastern Maine has scheduled its 2013 volunteer training course 12:30-4:30 p.m. over six consecutive Mondays, Oct. 7-Nov. 11, at the Eastern Maine Medical Center Healthcare Mall, 885 Union St. Caring men and women who feel called to serve as companions for neighbors who are terminally ill are invited to apply for a space in the class.

UCP of Maine starts Shared Living program
BANGOR — As of Aug. 13, United Cerebral Palsy of Maine has been approved by the Maine
DHHS Office of Aging and Disability Services to be an administering agency of Shared Living
Home Support Services.
Shared living is a residential option for adults with intellectual disabilities who qualify and are
approved for MaineCare Section 21 Home and Community Based Waiver level of services.
As an administering agency, UCP of Maine will provide contracted consultative services and quality assurance reviews for its providers.

Diabetes support group
BANGOR — The St. Joseph Diabetes and Nutrition Center sponsors a free diabetes support
group which meets the 1-2 p.m. first Wednesday of March, April, May, September, October and

Health coalition social worker
BUCKSPORT — The town of Bucksport and Bucksport Bay Healthy Communities Coalition announced that it has hired social worker James Bradney of Belfast as the health planning director effective Aug. 12. He has worked in the healthcare field as a substance abuse counselor, behavioral health therapist and as a community care team organizer. He has worked at Pen Bay Hospital, Wellspring’s substance abuse facility, Acadia Hospital and Seaport Family Practice.
