CALAIS – Georgia Evelyn Stanhope, 95, went home to be with the Lord Sept. 10, 2013, in Calais. Evelyn was born Oct. 20, 1917, to William and Sophia (Hilyard) Stone in Milltown.
She married Leonard Stanhope in Calais where they raised their two daughters. Evelyn was a member of the First Baptist Church of Calais.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Leonard Stanhope; son, Richard Stanhope; great-grandson, Jeremy Richard Bailey; sister, Mae Bayliss; and three brothers, Harold Stone, Lewis Stone and William Stone. Evelyn is survived by her two daughters, Norma Wallace and her husband, Coburn, of Crawford and Donna Karlsson and her husband, Vincent, of Stetson; four grandchildren, Cheryl Ingersoll and her husband, Wayne, of Calais, Troy Wallace and his wife, Tracey, of Crawford, Annette Bailey and her husband, Richard, of Massachusetts and Michelle Strout and her husband, Dale, of Plymouth; 11 great-grandchildren, Joseph Bailey, Krystal Mann, Charissa Myers and her husband, Anthony, Gabrielle Bailey, Jonathan Ingersoll, Nathan Ingersoll, Gabe Sanchez, Maya Mann, Kaylee Wallace, Emily Strout and Abigail Strout; two great-great-granddaughters, Diamond Morris and Ariel Myers; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais. A funeral service will immediately follow visitation beginning at 2 p.m. with Pastor Bob Hinton officiating. Services by Mays Funeral Home, Calais and Eastport.
