PITTSTON, Maine — Police have released the identity of a young man from Kennebec County whose body was pulled from the Kennebec River Saturday.

Department of Public Safety Spokesman Stephen McCausland confirmed the man is Jonathan Barber, 23, of Readfield.

The state police spokesman added further testing is expected to be completed on Barber’s body by the state medical examiner’s office before an exact cause of death is determined.

Foul play is not believed to have been a factor.

Barber’s body was located by residents off Smithtown Road in Pittston Saturday. He had been reported missing Sept. 11, but he was last seen Sept. 8., in Waterville.
