HUDSON – Dona Lee Mary (Raymond) Shortall, 64, passed away September 16, 2013, at home, surrounded by family and friends after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born April 22, 1949, in Waterville, the daughter of Willard Raymond and Lucille H. Tarasewicz (Raymond) Farrar, and stepdaughter of Elden Farrar.
Dona graduated from Foxcroft Academy in 1968. She worked at Hathaway Shirt Co. and Pride Manufacturing for many years. Dona and her husband, Paul, managed Little Lad’s Restaurant in Bangor, where she made many friends. Dona loved to sew, knit and cook. Her passion was gardening, and she nourished her family and friends over many winters with her produce.
Dona was a deaconess and health minister of the Greater Bangor Seventh Day Adventist Church. Her faith was very important to her.
Dona was predeceased by her parents and stepfather. She is survived by her loving husband, Paul, of almost 37 years; stepchildren, Stacie Shortall Bennett, Sean Shortall, Paul Christopher Shortall and his wife Hilda, and James (Chopper) Shortall and his wife, Angela; grandchildren, Leizl Shortall and Joshua Bennett. She is also survived by her siblings, Phyllis Lyford and husband Tom; Willard Raymond and significant other Betty Sockabasin; Debora Bell; Cheryl Doore and her husband Glenn; and many nieces and nephews. She leaves behind many friends and church families.
A memorial service will be held at 3 pm on September 21 at the Greater Bangor Seventh Day Adventist Church in Hermon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Seventh Day Adventist Church Building Fund, 42 Orion Drive, Hermon, ME 04401. Please visit www.ThompsonFuneralHome.org
