MADAWASKA – Rival R. Albert, 85, passed away Sept. 14, 2013, at a Madawaska Health Care Facility. He was born June 13, 1928 in Edmundston, NB, Canada, a son of the late Joseph and Edith (Lachance) Albert.
Rival was a wonderful, loving man, full of life and laughter. His home was always open to family and friends and loved to entertain them being the jokester he was. He was a mentor and spiritual guide to his sons and grandsons, who were the “apples of his eye.” He enjoyed fishing, gardening and came to enjoy playing dice games. He retired from former Frasier Paper after 34 years of service and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Fourth Degree Assembly, Madawaska.
He is survived by: his loving wife, Geneva (Guerrette) Albert of Madawaska; two sons, Roger P. Albert and his wife Barbara of Granby, CT, and Ronald J. Albert and his wife Cheryl of Westfield, MA; two grandsons, Michael and David Albert; two step-granddaughters, Amy and Lindsey; many brothers & sisters-in-law; and nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Rival was predeceased by his first wife, Theodora (Ted) Chamberland Albert in 2003.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 AM on Friday, Sept. 20 at the St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Family and friends may call at Lajoie Funeral Home from 6-8 PM on Thursday, Sept. 19, and from 9 AM until 9:45 AM on Friday.
