ORIENT – Joy Strout, 64, passed away Sept. 3, 2013, at her home. She was born Oct. 15, 1948, in Columbia Falls, the daughter of Percy and Velmer (Melanson) Alley.
Joy was a kind and loving person who worked hard at the things she loved to do. She ran a business in home health care. She loved cars, especially Mustangs and Cadillac, and she often was found dragging on the “Bucksport stretch” as we called it back in the ’60s. Joy loved animals of all sorts, they always had birds and other farm animals. Some of the things that made her special were times around the holidays. She was a great cook and loved big family get togethers and always welcomed people who had no plans or were without loved ones. She was very special, all the kids and grandkids were her world and she was the backbone of our family. Joy will be missed so much by all.
She is survived by her husband, Robert; children, Jeff Lurvey, his twin daughters, Tamara and Tanya Strout, Robert M. Stout II, and Blaine Olsen; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; brothers, Tracy Alley and Scott Alley; two special people, her Aunt Carol and cousin, Lorna, who helped Joy with recent stuggles; and several nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her parents.
