MATTAWAMKEAG – Danny B. Twist, 62, husband of the late Mary (Arbogast) Twist, died Sept. 20, 2013, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Feb. 4, 1951, in Winn, the son of Roland and Viola (Carnes) Twist.
Danny was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He enjoyed camping and the many excursions his children took him on. He will be remembered most for emceeing the many music jams in the area, especially at the KC Hall in Lincoln. His bass and guitar playing, singing, and his “Aunt Millie” will be missed by all who frequented the music jams.
He is survived by two sons and their wives, Bryant Twist and Darcie, and Stephen Twist and Tracey; a brother, Delbert Twist and his wife, Christine; a sister, Sally Twist; his three grandchildren, who were his life, Hailee, Jaicie, and Brayden; a sister-in-law, Mary Twist; and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind three very special people, Martha and Butch, of Mabie, W.Va., and Birdie, of Durham, N.C. In addition to his parents and his wife, Mary, he was predeceased by his child, Danny; sister, Marion Bishop; and brother, David Twist.
Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, at Mattawamkeag Bible Baptist Church. Interment, with full military honors, will be at East Winn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Danny’s memory may be made to an account for his grandchildren at Lincoln Maine Federal Credit Union. Donations may be left at the funeral home.
