HOLDEN – Lois Smart, 75, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013, at her residence. She was born Jan. 15, 1938, in Parkman, the daughter of the late Birchie and Doris (Clifford) Tarr.
Lois was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved to cook and thoroughly enjoyed the camping trips she took with her family as well as the traveling she did with her husband, John. Lois was a room mother for the local school. She never let her illness take away her zest for life and will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor.
She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. In addition to her husband, John Smart of Holden she leaves behind three children, Tim Smart and his significant other, Marlene Spencer, of Orrington, Corey Smart and his wife, Tess, of Exeter, Shannon Marshman and her husband, Robert Jr., of Stetson; two grandsons, Zachary Smart of Connecticut, and Patrick Smart of Bangor; two brothers, Harley Tarr and his wife, Janet, of Guilford, and George Tarr and his wife, June, of Dover-Foxcroft; two sisters, Nancy Patterson and her husband, Basil Jr., of Abbott, and Ann Parsons and her husband, David, of Troy; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Robert Tarr.
A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, at Rowe Cemetery, Holden.
