ELLSWORTH, Maine — Residents were without power for up to two hours Tuesday morning because an animal got into the Bucksport substation, causing two fuses to blow, a Central Maine Power Co. representative said.

“I’m assuming it was a squirrel,” said Gail Rice of Central Maine Power.

About 650 residents lost power at 7:20 a.m. when the fuses blew. Another 1,300 had to be disconnected at 8:45 a.m. for Central Maine Power to replace the fuses.

Rice said everything was back to normal by 9:30 a.m.
