WATERVILLE, Maine — Two young men have been arrested in connection with three stolen firearms, according to police.
Alexander Salvas, 18, and Jordan Doolan, 19, both of Waterville were taken into custody Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively, Waterville police Detective Sgt. William Bonney said Thursday.
A resident called police Sept. 24 when he realized three firearms had been stolen from his home, Bonney said.
Waterville police, with help of Fairfield police and the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office, were able to recover one stolen firearm which led to the arrest of Salvas, Bonney said. He was charged with theft by receiving stolen property and possession of a firearm by a felon. Salvas, on probation for a robbery charge, is being held without bail at the Kennebec County Jail.
The following day, police were tipped off that Doolan was at a relative’s house in Waterville. He was arrested while at the residence, according to Bonney.
Doolan was booked on a charge of theft by unauthorized taking and brought to jail, where he is being held on $10,000 bail.
Bonney said the investigation remains open as two of the stolen firearms have not been accounted for. Anyone with information should contact Detective Josh Woods at 680-4700.
