The Cross Insurance Center announced on Monday that Ringling Bros. and Barnum and Bailey Circus will bring their “Greatest Show on Earth” to Bangor for four nights, from Nov. 7 to 10. Tickets go on sale on Monday, Oct. 7, at the Cross Center box office, by phone at 800-745-3000, and online at Prices start at $17 and there are discounts for groups of 15 or more.

The Ringling Bros. and Barnum and Bailey performances will be the renowned circus troupe’s first shows in Bangor since the 1950s, though the company has performed in Portland in more recent years. The Shrine Circus has had a yearly presence at the former Bangor Auditorium for decades, performing in the spring.

This show, titled “Fully Charged,” features Ringling Bros. ringmaster David Shipman introducing audiences to an international cast of circus performers including the Lopez Family of knife throwers, high-wire stunts and synchronized performances inside the globe of steel. It also features Mongolian strongman Mr. Power with Lady Lightning, award winning Ukrainian aerial gymnast Sergey Novikov, and the Vavilov Troupe, a six-man acrobatic troupe from Russia. There’s also Anton, a comedian who also juggles fire, plays drums, tap dances and tumbles on the trampoline, as well as the traditional animals, including camels, horses, dogs and elephants.
