ALTON – Carroll Norman Huggins, 77, formerly of Moscow, left his loving family on Monday October 7, 2013 in the comfort of his home. He was born on December 6, 1935 in Bingham, the son of Ernest C. and Phyllis Marie (Henderson) Huggins.
Carroll was educated in Bingham Schools, and was a graduate of the class of 1955. He then went on to work for the state in the Highway Department before continuing on with many jobs in the construction industry. One day in April of 1975 Carroll hollered over to Jacqueline “You wanna go wrestling?” She responded with an enthusiastic “Yes.” Then on June 21, 1975 they began a wrestling match that lasted for 38 years and 4 months. He was proud of the combined 54 years he and his wife Jacqueline had worked for H. E. Sargent Inc. in Stillwater. Together they did a lot of camping and family activities. He enjoyed being a PVA Road Warrior with the moped group of Penobscot Valley Acres Camp Ground in Charleston where he and Jacqueline were members for 10 years. When asked about retirement he would say “Oh, we get up in the morning, take a picnic lunch of egg salad sandwiches, hit the road with the Jeep, and may not return till late at night.” We never knew where we would end up. He was very proud of their nieces and nephews. He loved to taunt them continuously.
He is predeceased by his parents Ernest and Phyllis Huggins; his sister Nancy Huggins Demko; brothers Warren Huggins, and Wendel Huggins; and parent-in-laws, Ruth and Perry Wright formerly of Orono. He is survived by his loving wife Jacqueline (Wright) Huggins of Alton; a brother Eugene Henderson and his wife Martha of Arlington, VA; sister-in-law Alene Huggins of Fairfield; aunt Annie Huggins of Bucksport; brother-in-law Rodney P. Wright and his wife Ruthie of E. Corinth; brother-in-law Gerald L. Wright of Sugarloaf; and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins spanning both sides of the family.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Carroll’s memory to the Baker Mountain Ski Tow Club P.O. Box 43 Bingham, ME 04920, or the Alton United Methodist church, care of Mrs. Paulette Borja, 3945 Bennoch Road, Alton, ME 04468. Per Carroll’s wishes there will be a private family gathering at the Bingham Village Cemetery on Saturday October 12, 2013 at 2:00 pm. Cremation and Service arrangements are by Giberson Funeral Home, Bingham.
